Buddy Melton for Male Vocalist!

We are really honored to be considered in the top 5 of anything! We appreciate your support and friendship throughout this busy year!

Also, our song, “Moon Over Memphis,” is again the Number 1 song in the country!

This song has been on quite a run for the last few weeks. It was also the Number 1 song for the month of July. Thanks to everybody in Bluegrass Radio for playing our stuff!

We are headed out to Canada, Maine, and New Jersey this week! Come see us when you can.

Many of you have asked about the unique album cover art of the new FIVE release. This was done as a special commission from Asheville fine artist Nancy Hilliard Joyce. It is set to the theme of the lead off track “Moon Over Memphis.”

By popular demand, we are making available 10×20 canvas prints of the original painting and they are now available at the store for $50. These are high quality prints on canvas and supplies are very limited for this commemorative piece.

This is something special that we can offer you directly from the band and will make great addition to your wall or a gift for a friend.

Thanks for supporting us and helping to make FIVE our best release yet!

CD Release Celebration Thu, 19 Jun 2014 20:45:40 +0000 Simchock-20140613-2081Thanks to all the friends and family that made it out to the album release shows! Here is a fantastic review and photos from the event. Thanks so much to our friends at Front Row Focus for their article.

As transplants to western North Carolina, exploring bluegrass, like real barbecue, has been essential to enjoying an authentic experience of our new home. Of course, there’s no shortage of Appalachia-inspired musical expression in this area and progressive bluegrass influences abound in much of the hybrid genres that we love. But it would be hard to find a better representation of finely-crafted music steeped in the rich culture of this region, delivered with such heartfelt sentiment, as presented by Balsam Range.

Their body of work showcases some of the finest songwriters working in the tradition today and their instrumentation and vocals are both top-shelf. While this quintet from Haywood County formed their collaboration only eight years ago, they have achieved an impressive record of success; the band’s 2010 title track off Trains I Missed was voted Bluegrass Song of the Year and their 2012 release, Papertown spent five consecutive months as the #1 album on Bluegrass radio, ultimately winning Bluegrass Album of the year in 2013.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Fri, 23 May 2014 12:46:10 +0000 We would like to stop for a minute and thank all of our brave military men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could all enjoy the freedom that we live in today. God bless you all! You only have to travel abroad to realize how great that we have it here, and people gave their lives to make it that way.

We are heading up to Virginia on Saturday to play at the Chantilly Farms Bluegrass Festival with some our favorite people in bluegrass. The Boxcars, Jr. Sisk, Russell Moore and 3rd Time Out, and a bunch more. That’s gonna be a good day!

A special note to our Western NC friends.
Our pals Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson, and Jerry Salley are playing at the Balsam Mountain Inn on Saturday night! Many of you have seen them at our Winter Concert Series, and you know how great they are. Go see them and tell them BR sent you. They are truly the top of the top.

As always, thank you for being a part of Balsam Nation! You are the best part of this whole thing!
