Balsam Range is proud to announce the release of the new collaborative project “Daylight” with John Driskell Hopkins of Zac Brown Band.  IT’S OUT NOW!!!  It’s a John Driskell Hopkins cd that features Balsam Range as the backing band and vocalists for every track of the entire album. Features guests like Zac Brown, Jerry Douglas, Joey + Rory, Levy Lowrey, & Tony Trishcka.  Everyone in BR is a huge ZBB fan. We love their music, originality and the fact they are down-to-earth fellows.  We all feel their music has a rootsy feel anyway. But what’s great is that it has respect for tradition while blazing a completely new path.  John has taken such an interest in our music and has been so supportive of Balsam Range that it was no-brainer when he asked if we’d help him with an all-acoustic recording of his original songs. Balsam Range is appearing on the disc courtesy of the Mountain Home Record Label and is excited about any opportunity to collaborate with world class artists.

The disc is a reflection of John’s diversity, versatility and musical tastes.  I guess the same could be said for us because we dived fearlessly into all he asked of us. Some of the songs are so deep and impacting with emotion they will knock you over with a feather.  Some are uplifting. Some are edgy. Some give a skewed worldly perspective.  John has an amazing wife, Jennifer, and family so some of the tunes make you want to hug your loved ones.  Or fall in love again. It contains one instrumental written by John and the 5 of us.  I feel it’s a well-balanced, diverse project that showcases everyone.  And we cannot leave out John’s great sense of humor and perspective. Some of the tunes are just a lot of fun.  Words can’t describe how much fun we’ve had during this entire process.

We did part of the recording at Crossroads in Arden, NC.  And the rest was done at Zac’s studios in Atlanta, GA and Nashville, TN.  Thanks to all the great folks who’ve worked on this.  And especially a BIG THANK YOU to John Driskell Hopkins. Thanks for all the opportunities, close friendship and making us a part of your family.
