A great big thanks goes out to all the great people in the world who have lifted me and my family up through this interesting time. Turns out there are still a lot of wonderful people performing acts of kindness everyday and it has meant the world to me.
Who knows how this will all end up with recovery. I may not do somethings as well; but, there will certainly be other things I will do much better. Like, look for the best in everyone and demand the best from myself.
Folks often ask what defines Bluegrass music? It certainly has a great deal to do with its musical interpretations; but after receiving prayers, support and kindness from all over the world…I would easily say now that it is the people that make up the Bluegrass family and community that defines Bluegrass. Good down to earth people with strong faith and belief who are more concerned with others than themselves and who rally around those that are down to lift them up and are prepared to see it through to the end. I am truly blessed to have the greatest friends and family that anyone could ever hope for. You know who you are and I thank you and love you all!!!

Buddy, We have never met, but I know you through the music. You are so right about this music being different. We all support each other, and even though we have never met it felt like a family member got hurt. Hope you keep getting better, but remember you have to rest ! We need ya ! We’ll meet somewhere down the road ! Best wishes and God Bless !
Buddy we are just so relived that you are on the road to recovery. You have been in our thoughts and healing energy has been sent daily. We are in this thing together and everyone has their place. Yours is to show us how to care and help others when they are in need. I Can’t imagine Balsam Range without your talent. You lift us up when we are sad and in need. Your voice and music is pure and true. The second part of Balsam Range is about to begin. The light is at the end of the tunnel and we are well on our way. All aboard this train is about ready to leave, the best is yet to come.
Buddy,
It’s good to hear that things are getting better for you. I have faith that you will recover 100%. The good lord is on your side. The best of luck in your recovery.
Larry

I first met Buddy Melton years ago – He was a friend of my boys ! I don’t know the others but I hope someday to meet them. As a group they are fantastic and Buddy, by himself, is the ‘frosting on the cake’!!!!! Hello Buddy,We are glad to hear that you are doing better. We love all of you guys.Hope to see you in July at sprucepine.Hang in there buddy. You are in our thoughts and prayers
The band has been great at giving Buddy updates. But it is good to hear from Buddy himself. I look for updates daily on Bluegrass Blog and the band’s site. Ever since I heard about the accident, I have been holding my breath, praying. Now, I feel like I can breathe. Praise God for his everloving mercy. I have followed the band for years. I traveled in the pouring rain and sat in the rain to hear y’all at Lil’ Johns. Y’all were kind enough to do Last Train to Kitty Hawk, even though you had done it on the first set. So you guys are just like the bluegrass people you described. The entire bluegrass community is a special group and you all are part of it. You are thoughtful and kind and generous. And your musical talent is impeccable! May God and His healing hand continue you to touch you and your family.
Buddy,
So sorry to hear of your injuries. My neighbor told me yesterday. So, obviously, I feel terrible that I did not know before now.
Hope you continue to recover. God is good!
Ann Sutton
So thankful to the Lord that you are doing so well. I love to hear you as well as Balsam Range as a group sing. Have been listening to your CD this past week and say a prayer for you when I do. God bless you and Happy Easter – He lives!
Buddy,
I just read about your accident while looking at the Red, White and Bluegrass web site. We’ve never met, but your music has touched my soul as it has so many others. I can’t tell you how glad I am to hear that you’re recovering so well. It is a testament to your strength that you were able to come out and do “Trains I Missed” as the first song.
I think that’s what distinguishes your music, hearing it, let alone playing it, makes you stronger.
Godspeed.
Thanks for the kind words Mike. We all appreciate your support throught ths difficult time.
