Hello e-friends!!! Wow…we can’t believe it!! What huge honor. We sure appreciate ALL the great comments. We always try to respond to everyone but it may take us a while. THANK YOU. Thanks for all the kind words and support you given this band and our music. Thanks for believing in us and this incredible song. We sure did from the first time we heard it. We feel privileged and so lucky to have snagged such a great song. THANKS to the songwriters. We we’re so happy that two of them (Nicole & Walt) were there with us thursday to share in the celebratiuon.
And a clebration it was. IBMA is a great organization and they throw one amazing event. Again we are honored to have received “Song of the Year 2011″ for Trains I Missed. It was extra special beacuse it was at the Ryman. I always love playing there. And Hollywood legend Steve Martin was the man who announced our award and presented it to us. I just wish we could have all been dressed like The Three Amigos. Oh well.
Also we want to give a special shoutt-out to our record label, Mountain Home. They racked up a bucket full of awards. Congrats to our label mates Doyle Lawson and the Boxcars for wins as well.
And if you’re from the Carolina Mountains then take pride in our rich mountain culture. WNC was also well represented by our friends Bryan Sutton, SCR. Of course we were there but it’s hit or miss who claims us. hahahaha I know for me personally, I couldn’t ever figure out if my mom was proud of me or not. Because out of all the pictures of me in the family albums …she just kept the negatives.

Again… THANK YOU ALL …thanks to all who voted and all who suppor
t Balsam Range. We love you!

Wanted to congratulate your ban on the award at IBMA ,what an honor. This is really special to me as I was born in your part of the country ,topton NC. I have played this mussic in Ohio for 55 yrs now & still going strong with my family band. Hope to catch one of your shows soon. Keep up the good BG music. Buzz Matheson
It is really beyond words. Everyone has done such a good job describing what a amazing thing it is to have Balsam Range put IBMA’s Song of The Year in the bag and bring it home to The Western North Carolina Mountains. It is also worth mentioning what a great bunch of local guys make up the Balsam Range Band, each member brings their own talents to the table then banquet begins. If you are lucky enough live in Western North and better yet Haywood County come out to Waynesville for the Church Street Fair Saturday October 8th 10:00am and hear them in person. One last note, Tuesday the 4th @ The Smoky Mountain Roasters Caleb Smith & Tim Surrett will be doing a live duet Starting at 7:30pm proceeds going to Hospice. I bet they will have some great stories to tell. Thanks

Congratulations to Balsam Range on the well deserved award. I enjoy your music and I appreciate your hometown mountain attitude. I’ve known Marc for over 35 years and worked with him in the studio on several occasions. I’m proud to see regional WNC mountain talent in the limelight at the Ryman!

Congratulations! I get a tear in my eye every time I hear that song (which is often as I haven’t changed the cd in my car since I put that one in months and months ago).
