From the first time I heard Balsam Range and every time since, I knew it was special. Not just the music, but the band (the chemistry)was the best I had ever heard or seen. Thanks for the music and thanks for letting me share the stage a time or two. As I always said – “it don’t get amy better than this”!! Congratulations on a much deserved win.

  6. avatar Don says:

I think my favorite photo is the one of Buddy and Allison K, the look in his
eyes reminds me of a little boy on Christmas morning. Lovely seeing all the girls dressed up for your special night, what a beautiful family ya’ll make!

  11. avatar Matt Grippi says:

Enjoyed listening to the piece–The Train I missed—and intend to do so over and over again, and the visuals were great enhancements.

  12. avatar Carol Rasnick says:

Dear Guys, This was an AWESOME video and has made my Monday morning!!! Thanks for posing and my only regret is that I couldn’t be there. Y’al are my FAVORITEST bluegrass band to this day!!! Keep up the GREAT singing/playing, and a big CONGRATULATIONS on the award. WXBQ is still playn’ your songs for me!!! I MISS Y’AL!!!

  13. avatar Kirk Grosch says:

From the first time I heard you guys at RW&B Festival a few years, I was off to the table to grab your CD. You guys were good them but you’ve grown so much as a band and it was truly a thrill to see you win “live” at IBMA. I kidded Marc at FanFest that he has to be the happiest banjo player in America. I’ve never seen a banjo player have more fun on stage but surrounded by such a great band, I’d probably be grinning like a Cheshire Cat too. Best of luck to the band and we need to work on another date to get you to Charlotte soon.
    All the best-
    Kirk

Well, there is another little talent waiting in the wings. Mrs. Nicholson and her video making. Very good! As always, a very spiritual experience. Your musical talent is superb, vocals spectacular. In fact, ya’ll have the complete package. I told Caleb one time that when I travel over this one mountain in Jackson county, that I feel so close to God, and that is exactly the way I feel when I listen to Balsam Range. Spiritual. Well, hold your families near and God even nearer. Get your tickets ready boys, ’cause your train is about to LEAVE THE STATION!! Good Luck!

  17. avatar timmy says:

The Greatness of Balsam Range comes from fact that they have never lost touch with their heritage and identity. These guys are ambassadors of the Appalachian way of life. Thank you for your music..Congrats!!!

  19. avatar Vicky says:

Great video, Jennifer! The words and pictures line up beautiful. I feel like I want to know the story behinde Buddy’s hair and Darren high-fiving a bear. I think Tim needs to be the one telling it. Just saying. Congrats on your IBMA win this year. Hope yall recieve many more!

  23. avatar Mike Thompson says:

Jane and I had a great time in Gainesville, GA when you were there.

Mark, glad we got to see you and talk about the “good ‘ol days” in WNC when we were clogging all over the place to some hot bluegrass music. This Balsam Range is the best. I hear you guys all the time on Serius/XM. Keep it up.

Congrats on the Song of the Year. I knew you would win it.

    Andy

I am just saying……Best band in the land at his time. Keep up the good work Amazing sound will be played for years and years.

  29. avatar Scott Jacobson says:

I like the dynamic and the sound is fresh. Its not leftover salmon’s “slamgrass” or Yonder Mountain’s Colorado take, its nice to hear some real voices. I heard you for the first time today as I am in New York City. I hope you can get on a big tour before the summer rolls around because people deserve to hear your music before festival season.

  30. avatar Teresa says:

Great job guys, we are so proud of all of you. You’ve worked so hard to achieve this award. Congratulations and we miss not getting to hear you but come where and when we can. Our prayers will be with you while you travel on the road. “Great song”

This song is so good it hurts.

  32. avatar Barbara says:

From the first time I heard you at IBMA a few years back, I was awed by your talents, incredible blending of voices and instruments, friendship and well, everything. I have since driven many miles to many concerts JUST to hear Balsalm Range, undoubtedly THE best group in bluegrass today. Yes I’ve heard some fantastic groups, but I just LOVE you guys and your version of bluegrass. Congratulations, and yes , as said above, as hard as it is to imagine the best being ahead, it surely will be if you keep this up!

  33. avatar Lil' Foxie says:

Awesome Fellas!!! Players …. Vocals…. Material….I’ve heard alot but NOW I’ve heard the BEST……Congratulations …many more Great Blessings to come…… Greg

  39. avatar Freddy Stafford says:

Another Great Song! I ran into you guys at the BBQ and Bluegrass Festival in Branson, Missouri with my wife and 3 children. I bought two albums. You played “Great Speckled Bird,” a family favorite that reminded me of my late father. I could barely keep my emotions in check, and I was not the only one in the audience. I hope to see you on the 25th of May, and PLEASE, record your version of “Great Speckled Bird!”

  40. avatar Donna Culp says:

Please come down to the Gulf Coast! Deluna Fest in Pensacola, The Wharf in Orange Beach, the Saenger in Mobile, AL or Pensacola–wherever!! You guys are awesome!!

  41. avatar Joan Kennedy says:

Amazing how “The Trains I Missed” seems to have so much more meaning in the light of Buddy’s challenges now. I’m sure that he is a strong man and will pull through this well. Looking forward to hearing him with BR again soon.
