Hey Everybody! Man what a time we had this past weekend at the Top Of Georgia Bluegrass Festival in Dillard, Georgia. This festival has it all. Incredible scenery, great facility, and an unbelievable line-up. The Dillard House food is worth the trip by itself!
It was really good to visit with a lot of my long time bluegrass friends, as well. The Boxcars, Blue Highway, The Crowe Brothers, The Gibson Brothers, Newfound Road, The Snyder Family, Curtis Blackwell, and many others. We even coaxed our old friend Gene Daniell out from behind the soundboard to play a little upright bass with Balsam Range!
Thanks to Jane and all the staff for treating us so kindly. They have already invited us for both days again next year! You should really check this one out. Thanks especially to the crowd for their incredible response. You wore us out!
God Bless, and we’ll see you folks in Florida and Alabama this week!

My brother-in-law had them on stage at the old Leatherwood Junction in Shelby NC and now they have hit the big time. Steve and Dotty Leatherwood (my sister) have lived in Shelby over 30 years. They closed the store in Shelby and moved down the road about 8-10 miles to Fallson NC. There are not to many people who love blue grass more than Steve; if you want to know anything about the Smoky or Blue Ridge Mountain kind he could probably come off with the answer in 2 seconds. The mountains in NC aren’t the only ones he knows (Earl Scruggs is from here)but most any other blue grass. Steve (last graduating class at Clyde, Dotty and I all grew up in a very small town in the Western Mountains – Clyde, NC, Dotty at a high school about 5 miles down from there and me in the Air Force, so if you pass that way don’t blink and if you have a chance to see the Rangers, by all means go. Kevin hear they are coming to Alabama. Linda Lanning Wheeler-Smith
Thanks guys. We’ve had a lot fun with the series. Glad you’re enjoying it!
Hi guys, looking forward to the Boxcar/Balsam Range show!!! That should be a great one!…as usual…loved Tony Rice and Bobby Hicks wow…and Darin & Brooke with you guys. This has been a great offering to the Canton/Clyde/Haywood area and, although I am sure it is often difficult to put together, it would be a great thing to do again. What a wonderful series and a big THANKS from me for the chance to see all these great musicians perform with Balsam Range. Love you guys a bunch and hope the future holds many great blessings for you all. See you again soon!!!(Several times!)…
Yeah man!! Big fun!
My mother loved the song, Dont hang a wreath on my door, Well, she passed away Easter April 24, 2011. I got the singers to sing this song over her. To make a long story short I can’t find the CD with the song on it. So, where can I get the CD. This song means alot to me. Thanks for the song and who wrote it, It was so heart felt and true song. Love it. Thanks
Hey Donna. That song was recorded about the time my father passed away. I know exactly what you mean.
