Just a word of thanks

Posted on: February 24th, 2011 by Tim Surrett

Hey Everybody. I just wanted to say a brief word of thanks to all our friends out there who have been so good to us in the short history of our band. This band started as a jam session at Darren’s house, and I think we still have that mentality. Still, things have progressed so much further than we could have imagined. That is completely due to you folks.

Our songs are reaching the top of the Bluegrass charts, and shows are selling out, and I am smart enough to know that without friends, we’re still just pickin’ in somebody’s basement. Our local friends keep coming to our programs, and we’re making new friends all over the world. It is a humbling thing. Radio is wearing our songs out, figuratively I hope, and to you folks we say God bless you!

Thank you for your friendship and support. You truly are the best part of playing music. Tim

  1. Thanks for this note Tim,
We first saw you guys live at the Mast Farm Inn one snowy night in December, but had heard your music on WNCW [plus an interview they did with you all] months earlier. I am excited, and not surprised, by the success Balsam Range is enjoying. Your music is “GREAT” and all the band members seem like really good guys! My wife and I are big fans and look forward to seeing you tomorrow night in Lenoir at the Broyhill Civic Center. Can hardly wait to hear “Last Train To Kitty Hawk”, “Caney Fork River”, and “Trains I missed” [plus so many more from your CDs]played live.
    Peace,
    Gary Childers

You guys work hard and the rewards are well deserved. And the music specks for itself. Awesome.

  3. You guys are great and the music is great…it is easy to love a great band and you are one of those…keep on plugging away….will see you in Apr with the Boxcars for sure….you deserve even more recognition than you have received….and someday, it will come…you have ‘built it’…they will come!

A friend of mine “introduced” me to you guys. I REALLY enjoyed the concert in Lenoir last night. I’d have to say you are among the best bands I’ve ever seen or heard. Perfect balance, really tight, and it just looked like you loved every second of what you were doing.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys do next.

Hi guys…since we first saw you New Year’s Eve, 2008, we have welcomed every opportunity to see you in concert. We are really looking forward to seeing you in Mt. Dora (so glad you’re invading Florida!). When we get to NC for the summer, we will attend every time we can. God is blessing your music in both sectors and we are blessed to know you and enjoy your music.

Excellent show (with Darrin and Brooke Aldridge) at Great Aunt Stella in Charlotte. My first exposure to your group. Super talent and genuine good people. Much enjoying the new CD I purchased. Thanks again for donating your time to the workshops on Saturday afternoon. Special thanks to Tim for helping me on my journey with the upright bass. I plan to make the charity show in Mooresville in April. I took a couple of flyers and have already posted one at Woody’s Music in Rock Hill, SC.

Ya’ll are good but not as good as so-n-so. Even still, I love LAST TRAIN TO KITTY HAWK so much, I burned it for everyone in my family. Seriously, you already know how I feel about your music. It – and you – are inspirational, passionate, and beyond talented. I do have one question: Why does the biggest guy play the smallest instrument? xo

  12. avatar Mike says:

Great show in Charlotte. I was the big bald dude on the front row, trying to adjust his new hearing aid. I am a musician myself, but I have a lot of work left to do. I still can’t trust my ear for pitch or nuance.Your show was the best thing I could do to try my new system out ……thanks

We will see you all this summer when we are back in western NC !!!! Have fun & keep up the good work (singing that is). Love to you all,
